For women in Berkshire who feel anxious, watched or out of place in a gym.
The first session is a conversation away from the gym, where we work out which specific part of it to start with.
If nothing changes in the first session, you don’t pay.
Message me with a little about where you are starting from and I will tell you exactly how I can help.
Gymshark surveyed 1,000 UK women in September 2025. 88% reported experiencing some form of anxiety in the gym, and two thirds had skipped a workout entirely because of it. 42% were nervous about using equipment incorrectly.

That makes it close to the default experience rather than anything unusual. What is unusual is having a structured process for it.
Anxiety gets smaller every time you go anyway. The first time is the hard one. It gets easier from there, and it does not ask you to feel brave first.
The whole difficulty is that walking into a gym feels like one enormous step, so it stays undone.
We take it apart. Small steps, in order, each one something you can genuinely see yourself doing. Three to five months in, you are walking in on your own and training to your own plan.
The approach is based on graded exposure. Wolitzky-Taylor et al., Clinical Psychology Review, 2008.
The first session runs about an hour, somewhere local and away from the gym. There is nothing physical in it.
We go through what you have already tried and what happened each time. Most women arrive having attempted this several times, and the pattern across those attempts is the useful information.
Gym anxiety is almost never about a gym in general. We identify the specific trigger, whether that is an area, a piece of equipment, a time of day or the changing rooms.
We put every trigger in sequence from easiest to hardest. This is what graded exposure means, and it is why nothing is attempted before the step below it is comfortable.
We go in together, at the quietest time of day for that gym, and work through the sequence we built. Thirty minutes inside, thirty minutes afterwards. Every step before this one has already been made comfortable.
You leave with the full exposure sequence written down and the point you have reached on it. From there it is fortnightly check-ins while you go on your own, with no end date and nothing to sign.
If the anxiety is the part that has stopped you, the first conversation costs nothing.

I work in person across Bracknell, Wokingham, Crowthorne, Ascot, Sandhurst and the surrounding Berkshire area. This has to be face to face. Anxiety of this kind does not reduce over a video call, it reduces by being in the room with someone who knows what they are doing.
If you have searched for gym anxiety help, how to get over gym anxiety, or gym intimidation as a woman, and you want a process rather than encouragement, you are in the right place.
Gym confidence coaching covers the same work from the other direction, focusing on what replaces the anxiety. Training for beginners is the page to read if you have never trained at all. For towns, times and how sessions run, see personal training in Berkshire.
Anxiety like this responds well to a structured process, and most women are training on their own within three to five months. The first session is free if nothing changes in it. Message me and I will tell you what the first one would look like.

Pushing through asks you to argue yourself out of a feeling while standing in the place that causes it. This works the other way round, building up in stages away from the gym first, which is how graded exposure is used clinically.
No. Nothing physical happens until you decide it should. Stages One and Two involve no gym at all, and Stage Three happens with me there beside you.
No. This is coaching rather than therapy. If something comes up that would be better handled by a therapist I will say so directly rather than working around it.
Drop me a message and tell me where you’re starting from. I’ll help you from there.
