For women who have never trained before and do not know where to start.
A MindFirst consultation for a complete beginner is a conversation away from the gym. No kit, no assessment, nothing to be a beginner at.
If nothing changes in the first session, you don’t pay.
Message me with a little about where you are starting from and I will tell you exactly how I can help.
Most beginner advice is about the physical side. Which machine to use, how many reps, how to warm up. The physical side is rarely the barrier.
For most complete beginners, and especially for women, the real block is walking in and feeling like everyone can tell straight away that you do not know what you are doing.
I do not hand you a programme on day one and hope the confidence follows. We start with what is making the gym floor feel so exposing in the first place.
Once that is understood, the training comes in gradually. Real beginner movements, done on the gym floor together, before you are ever expected to go alone.
You can read the full four-stage process, or message me directly with where you are starting from.
About an hour, somewhere local and away from the gym. No kit, no assessment and nothing physical, so there is nothing to be a beginner at yet.
We go through what has kept you from starting, in specific terms. For most complete beginners it is one particular part of it rather than the whole thing.
Which equipment does what, which areas you will use and which you can ignore entirely. Most of a gym is irrelevant to you and knowing that removes a lot.
A squat, a hinge, a press, a pull and a carry. That is a complete workout and it is all you need for your first year. We plan the order you learn them in.
We go in together and I show you where everything is and how the five movements work. Thirty minutes inside, thirty minutes afterwards. Nothing is timed, counted or measured on your first visit.
You leave with the five movements written down, where to start and what to do in your first month. From there it is fortnightly check-ins while you train on your own.
If you have never trained before, the first conversation costs nothing.
Book a Consultation"I used to avoid certain areas because I didn’t want people seeing me struggle. I’d stick to the treadmill because I was too scared to touch the weights."
No gym membership. No kit beyond something you can walk in. No fitness level, no idea what a compound lift is, no plan. The first sessions require none of it, which is the point. Everything physical gets introduced once the part that actually stops people has been dealt with.
I work in person with women across Bracknell, Wokingham, Crowthorne, Ascot, Winnersh, Sandhurst and the surrounding Berkshire area. If you have searched for a personal trainer for beginners, a female personal trainer near me, or how to start going to the gym when you have never been, and the physical side was never really the bit worrying you, you are the person this is written for.
Gym confidence coaching explains the psychology behind the method. Strength training covers the five movements you will actually learn. For towns, times and how sessions run, see personal training in Berkshire.
No membership, no kit and no fitness level needed to begin, and most complete beginners are training on their own within three to five months. The first session is free if nothing changes in it. Message me and tell me what you would like to be able to do.
No, and it is the most common starting point I see. The first sessions involve nothing physical at all, so there is nothing to be a beginner at yet.
Neither. No membership, no kit beyond something you can walk in, no fitness level. All of that gets introduced later once the part that actually stops people has been dealt with.
You will not be, and more importantly the first session is built so that this is not the question you are answering. We deal with the fear of being watched before you set foot inside.
Most women reach that point within three to five months, then move to fortnightly check-ins with no end date.
Drop me a message and tell me where you’re starting from. I’ll help you from there.
